Church split deepens as Tshepiso Modise fights with father's wif

Controversy continues to plague the 

International Pentecost Holiness Church.

This time around the church has been rocked by a domestic dispute betweenNosipho Tafu and Tshepiso Modise.Tshepiso is the son of the late IPHC spiritual leader Glayton Modise, while Tafu, also known as Mamohau, is the deceased leader's second wife.Modise, 76, died at Mediclinic Morningside, north of Johannesburg, on February 9 after a short illness. Since then, members have been divided over who should be their new head.According to court officials at the Westonaria Magistrate's Court, Tshepiso failed to appear in court as expected, forcing the matter to be postponed to later this August.The two have reportedly opened casesof domestic violence against each other.In yesterday's domestic violence matter, Tshepiso was the respondent, while his stepmother Tafu was the complainant.Sowetan saw the charge sheet, which revealed that the case concerned domestic violence. But a request for further access was refused by court officials.In April, Judge Jodi Kollapen, in the North Gauteng High Court, ordered church elders to form an eight-member committee to run the church's affairs.Kollapen said the committee should be made up of members from each side of the divide.He was delivering judgement in a counter-application brought by Tshepiso's legal team after respondents in the matter - made up of 28 church elders and youth - opposed the ordination of Tshepiso asthe church's spiritual leader.Again this year, Tshepiso allegedly damaged the main gate at the church in Zuurbekom, West Rand.It was earlier reported that the chair his mother Mmapoloko normally sits on in church was broken by angry congregants.A church member was earlier quoted saying there was bitter feud between Modise's two wives, Mmapoloko and Mmamohau. Mmapoloko did not attend her husband's wedding to Mmamohau.She allegedly failed to stop the two from getting married and had been cold towards the pair since their unionin 2012.
