John Mayer's new album to be released in 2017
Los Angeles - John Mayer's new album will be released next year.
The 38-year-old singer/songwriter - who released his last studio album Paradise Valley in 2013 - has almost completed his latest record and hopes it will come out in early 2017.
Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, he said: "It will probably come out early next year. I'm almost done with it. I have to finish some vocals and then just mix it and it's ready to go."
John has most recently been working with Dead & Company, comprised of Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, along with Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti and defended the "sex face" he makes when playing guitar with the band.
He said: "I don't mean to do the guitar face but [the Grateful Dead songs make me do] an even more gnarly guitar face. Not only [am I] lost in the music, I'm worried about falling off the bike. It's a pained sexual face."
John appeared on the show with Grateful Dead singer/guitarist Weir and the pair performed the 1970 classic Friend of the Devil.
Meanwhile, John - who has had failed romances with Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Minka Kelly - insisted he is ready for a new relationship.
He said: "I'm ready to roll, I'm more mature than I've ever been.
"The stage is set but I'm excited for a meet cute at some point. I'm single and I'm excited about the future."
