Mythbusters final season: 4 of our favourite myths ever busted

Cape Town – Mythbusters Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage made science cool with their popular Discovery show.
The pair set out to set the record straight when the line between fact and fiction becomes blurred.
2 900 experiments later the long running series is coming to an end.
The final season premieres on Wednesday 29 June at 20:00 on Discovery Channel (DStv 121).
To celebrate the show we take a look at some of our favourite myths busted.
1. Titanic Door
Rose got a lot of flak for not making space for Jack on that door in that famous Titanic scene. The guys put it to the test and confirmed what we all suspected for years, Jack's death was needless.

2. Using your cellphone at the petrol station
We've all seen those no cellphone signs at the petrol station and wondered if using it will really cause an explosion. No explosion, myth busted.

3. Running vs walking in the rain
Nobody want to get caught in the rain, right? But is it better to walk or run in the rain? The pair simulated a rain storm and discovered that walking was better. However, when they revisited the experiment in real rain they found out that it was better to run. Either way, you still get wet.

4. Can you dodge a Stormtroopers blaster bolt?
In a galaxy far far away our favourite characters survive Stormtroopers blaster bolts time after time. The pair decided to test if this was really possible… sadly it's not.

Don't miss the final season of Mythbusters on Wednesdays at 20:00 on DStv 121.
