Chief of Agona Kwanyako says he is confident the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will emerge victorious at the end of the November poll.

Nana Ampim Darko V, says the third attempt at the presidency by the NPP leader is a sign of good omen since a Ghanaian tradition has it that “one has to go before the gods three times before a request can be granted”.

“When you appear before the gods continuously for the third time, they will not fail you because in the initial stages they were trying your patience,” he said in Twi.

The traditional leader of Agona Kwanyako disclosed this on June 16 when the NPP presidential candidate visited his palace as part of his five-day campaign tour of the Central Region.

According to Nana Ampim Darko V, the three-time NPP leader has exhibited “faith and patience, and as such power will be entrusted into your hands.”
“This is your third visit to Kwayako, and I am very certain that we will all hear good news this year,” he said.

He used the opportunity to call on all the presidential candidates to use decent language in addressing their opponents as the nation marches into the election.

“We don’t want any bad language that will bring trouble to Ghana, which will, in the end, affect us all. When you use decorous language, you end up convincing others who are not necessarily members of your party,” he urged them.

The NPP leader thanked the Chief for his words of encouragement and assured him that the NPP will not plunge the country into mayhem.

“The NPP will be decorous in our language and will make sure nothing bad happens,” he promised.

He explained he is in the region with his delegation to solicit enough support to ensure the victory of the NPP come November saying “anyone who wants to win this year’s elections, one must win the Central Region.”

He told the chief and people of Agona Kwanyako that “The NPP is coming into office, not to laud over Ghanaians, but to serve them. We will put in place measures to ensure that we have jobs and bring prosperity to Ghana.”

To deliver the public goods to the people of Ghana, the NPP leader said it takes good and selfless men to take decisions aimed at achieving that end.

He believes the “NPP has the men and women who can transform the fortunes of Ghana. God did not put us on this land for us to be poor. It is bad leadership that makes us poor,” he said.

Akufo-Addo urged the electorate to vote for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, John Owusu-Barnes, who was part of the NPP delegation to the palace.
