MTN threatens to terminate Kotoko agreement
Kotoko are likely to face frenetic times ahead after telecommunication giants MTN Ghana threatened to withdraw their sponsorship deal with the Ghanaian powerhouse over breach of contract.
MTN are reportedly angry with Kotoko's decision to participate in an event organised by their main competitor Vodafone.
The Porcupine Warriors participated in a Unity charity match against a select World X1 at the Baba Yara stadium last Wednesday-a competition which was championed by their sworn rivals Vodafone.
Kotoko are now in danger of losing out on the lucrative deal with MTN for their flagrant breach of the terms of their contract with the telecommunication powerhouse.
The deal among other enjoins the club to wear official jerseys of branded MTN logo in games.
But it appears the club has thrown the terms of agreement into the window and could pay for the consequences of their actions, according to widespread reports in the West African nation.
The current situation amplifies the poor and 'school-boy' management style of General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti.
The Vodafone Unity match, aimed at promoting peace ahead of the country's crucial elections, was attended former top stars including ex-Dutch stars Edgar Davis as well as former England stars Sol Campbell and Emil Heskey.
Former Nigerian players Yakubu Ayibgeni and Nwankwo Kanu among others were all in attendance.
