EC mounts search for missing code numbers of voters – NPP alleges
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana have served notice to the directors of its district and regional offices across the country to help locate the code numbers of unspecified registered number of people in the voter’s register.
The EC, Kasapafmonline.com understands, is finding it very difficult to assign polling stations to the affected electorates to cast their votes.
The registered voters who are without code numbers were registered in 2012.
Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, who revealed this in an interaction with Accra-based Okay FM, Tuesday, said efforts to get the number of the affected voters have proved futile.
“I have followed this for some time now. I have called the Directors of IT and Elections to determine the number of people affected but till date have not received any answer from them. This is worrying”, he noted.
He said in 2012, the affected ones were disenfranchised and wondered what has kept the EC that long to rectify the anomaly.
He urged Ghanaians to take a particular interest in all the activities of the EC before, during and after the general elections.
