Large pay package could be preventing Siyanda Xulu from finding new club
Siyanda Xulu’s large pay package could be a stumbling block to the transfer-listed Kaizer Chiefs defender finding another club in South Africa.
Times Media has learnt that there has been overseas interest in Xulu‚ including from clubs in Belgium and Spain. This might be the 24-year old former FC Rostov and Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back’s best option finding a new club as few PSL teams are likely to be able to come close to matching the package he has at Chiefs.
Xulu has had a disappointing season at Amakhosi‚ arriving as a headline signing at the beginning of the campaign from a frustrating three-year spell at Rostov in Russia.
He played five league games – four of them in the first half of the season – before fading into obscurity having fallen out of favour with Chiefs coach Steve Komphela.
Xulu has four years remaining on his contract at Chiefs.
The centre-back‚ who once had a trial with Barcelona‚ has four caps for Bafana Bafana.
